I am glad for you. My keys don't work.

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/218889

This bug had been confirmed, the problem is that it has been marked (just as
so many others) as a duplicate of another bug which however is not the same
as the original... I simply did not have the time to keep up with it. I must
admit.

In any case, when I filed in, the keys worked on Gnome but not on KDE.

This was joined on a large bug which encompasses Gnome and KDE, though only
Gnome seems to be listed latelly:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/207473

Despite the bug being marked "fix released" for Hardy, people keep reporting
the problem on Intrepid.

Exactly you can't guarantee neither works. So despite not knowing what you
are talking about, you chose to disregard the opnion of users who actually
use BT. Very, hum, lets say "unbiased".

As I said, Kubuntu 8.10 dropped support for it:
"Bluetooth is not supported in Kubuntu 8.10 because bla bla bla...."

Oh please, don't "buy it". Just read the bug reports.
