Hi Steven,

there is no need to worry. As has been said, you practically cannot burn 
a modern CPU, since they shutdwon before overheating. This applies to 
AMD as well as Intel.

As you obviously have power, otherwise there would not be a beep, I 
would suggest to follow the other guys' advise to carefully (re)check 
the hardware installation.

If this does not help, I would check the CPU fan, next.

I had motherboards refusing to start, when the CPU fan did not rev.

I would get a CPUfan to molex adaptor that connects the CPU fan directly 
to the PSU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molex). With this the fan 
should at least "try" to start, when power is switched on. If it does 
not, it will be time for fan replacement.

I would then proceed from there
