This debate is the major reason I left the Fedora RPM-world and that was
about as emotionally unsettling as a divorce. I've been using RedHat
since it first came out. I personally know Bob Young. So, I can say I
was really invested there and KDE is my desktop of choice. Having 4.0
being thrust onto me was a show-stopper of a very serious sort. I use my
desktop for work ($$$), so beta-testing was completely out of the
question. I feel the same as you, forcing users to do things that might
harm them is never a great idea nor should it be taken lightly. Ric
