change refresh in 8.10?

[uriah heep]

running 8.10 using gforce 9700 and nvidia 177 drivers to mitsubish diamond
plus 200.  The resolutions max at 1024/762 and the refresh is max 50 which
is like watching a strobe.  How do I get the refresh rate up to 70?
