8.10 & Nvidia + OOoo

My son wanted to do some homework yesterday using OpenOffice. The computer has a Geforce card and 
is using the Nvidia drivers. I know that there are still some issues with the Nvidia drivers but 
I have found another one:
Open OpenOffice; click inside the window, then click on the desktop or let the mouse pointer 
hover over the Panel buttons; or click on the Kmenu button -- we get some really cool desktop 
effects - the colors all get inverted, most times the desktop goes black but sometimes the 
wallpaper color is inverted and it looks awesome!
OK, back to reality - it's basically unusable! Does anybody have any idea when Nvidia are going 
to get their drivers sorted out?

How do I switch to the nv driver?
