Typing a reply in an email, can it be automatically be converted to a working link for the receiver?

In Thunderbird:

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Config Editor

Right click > New> String

add:

network.protocol-handler.app.http

firefox

Right click > New > String

add:

network,protocol-handler.app.https

firefox

Right click > New > string

add:

network.protocol-handler.app.ftp

firefox
