Matrix codes

I would like to be able to decipher what looks like a matrix code on the back 
of a phone battery - specifically to try to find out what the manufacturing 
date is.

Is there anything open source that anybody knows to be able to decode a scan 
of these codes? I've tried searching source forge etc. and turned up nothing.
