With, or without, KDE 3.5.11 I seriously doubt that anything major will
stop working within the next year that the core of Kubuntu 8.04 will
continue to receive updates, and probably for quite some time after
that. By then KDE 4.2 should be out and things should be getting much
better in that respect. In nine months or so if I see that things aren't
going to get better I may make other arraignments, but I don't expect
that to happen.

Besides, as someone else said, KDE 3.5.11 will be available in some way
whether in the (K)Ububntu repos or elsewhere.

I still don't see the necessity of jumping ship and running just because
you don't like the newest and shiniest release. 8.04 will continue to
get security updates for the next year. KDE 3.x will continue to
function just the same for a minimum of that year and probably a few
more after that unless some major catastrophe hits your computer. Your
computer is et up and functioning just as you want it to. AND, I
seriously doubt that there will be any quantum leaps in computer
operating systems in the next year or so. So what's the big rush?

You [ generic - no one person in particular ] still have plenty of time
to let the dust settle a little.
