.wav conversion

Have a few hours recorded this weekend in a 2GB+
file in .wav format.
Is there an easy way via the command line to break
this up into multiple files and convert to CDDA or
whatever it is called in CD audio format. This so that
a regular walkman CD player can use it.
I can not covert it to MP3 as I do not want any compression
at all. None. Nada. Zilch.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Also. Why have a beta version of audacity as the default
repo version? This caused me significant problems that
I may not be able to get by because I made the assumption
that is was OK. Found a problem after I did the recording
this weekend.
