I don't know about the rest - kernel 2.6.24-17-generic, if that's what you 
upgraded to, is working fine here - but firefox 3 has always done that to me. 
I thought it just happened when it could not find any connection (off-line) 
and took it as a  feature.

We're still waiting for the rc as they got in window.
