I guess I didn't make myself completely clear. Sorry. I was talking 
about scrubbing the motherboard in the sink. Also done keyboards that 
way. Wash them out with the spray hose in the sink. Particularly 
effective for removing soda and iced tea.

I would think alcohol would remove any lubricant way faster than water. 
Most lubricants are not water soluble.
