Yes - I write <mailhost.zen.co.uk>

It doesn't. It doesn't transit through Gmail. It goes through my ISP's
mailserver. Kmail allows you to set the sending email address as you wish.
This is reaching you via zen, not via Gmail - but if you reply it will go to
one of my Gmail accounts. Kmail will happily use several different email
addresses on several different domains if that is what you want to do - but
all email can transmit through the ISP's SMTP server.
As I say, I have set this arrangement up satisfactorily for quite a few other
people. I have only once - 2 days ago - set someone up to use Gmail's SMTP.
(Which, incidentally, now can use port 25. That is what I set up two days
ago and what Gmail was saying to use - and it works.) I did this to
circumvent a troublesome ISP.

No, only POP3.
I hope I have managed to make myself clearer. If not, please come back again
with questions!
