KMFormat and iPod Mini

I had some files on my iPod which I just could not get rid of so I
tried the Format option on the iPod icon so I could remove them.

When I try to mount the iPod I get this message:

"mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc3, missing
codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is
found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so"

I tried dmesg|tail and it showed:

"[ 1783.623847] ppdev0: registered pardevice
[ 1783.674235] ppdev0: unregistered pardevice

How do I get my iPod to work and mount so I can record music again?
