Kubuntu DVD 7.1 for AMD Turion 64

My current computer refused to boot any flavor of Linux from the internal 
drive.  It wasn't the drive, because another computer had no trouble with 
Linux discs using the same drive.  It seemed to be something bizarre with the 
BIOS refusing to see Linux discs as bootable.

After a lot of futile poking around with different fruitless ideas, I finally 
solved it with an external USB DVD drive.  I have no idea why this works and 
no drive connected internally would, but work it does.
