He is?  There was mention of Thunderbird, indeed, but the OP didn't say that
(at least in the OP...).

Yes, well, I'm not sure just how smart dIMAP is these days - I stopped using
it myself when it was still quite primitive.  You certainly don't want to
have GBs being copied across the net.
