That doesn't make sense - it isn't looking at /etc/default/kdm.d/ from that
snippet, and anyway, my /etc/default/kdm.d/ only contains 10_desktop-base,
and everything's commented out.

That doesn't surprise me - it always has - but I don't think you're looking
in quite the right place.
