This suggests that you probably did something as root that you shouldn't
have :-(

Particularly, don't try to start a KDE app as root that doesn't need to be -
and don't do it until you have tried it as yourself.  In this case, you
used something that needed the thumbnail kio slave, which you hadn't used
as yourself, so it copied the default config file from the system directory
and saved it _as root_.
