Try, from the terminal:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
Then startkde should get you back into X (or reboot).

If that fails (and you have an nvidia card), edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and 
change (in Section "Device"), Driver "nvidia" to Driver "nv", that should 
kill all 3D stuff and get you back. You can then fix the 3D problem.
