What I've set up at work is a server which amongst other things
functions as a print server using CUPS. Can't remember exactly how I
set up my dual boot desktop to send jobs to it from Linux, but I
think it was similar to the setup for XP desktops. To do it with XP
is something like:-
Add printer
Networked printer
Use internet connected printer
Address the printer as
http://serverIPaddress:631/classes/admina4lasers for example
Select the generic printer driver that sends postscript which is the
last one on the generic list I think
and it "Just Works". If you need to print A2 sheets then a hack to
the windows .ppd file is required.
Will something like this work if it is set up on a guest operating
system, and given the address of the host OS as the print server?
I've got XP set up as a qemu VM on my Gutsy system at home. Must try
this out sometime.
