Accented characters: sudden strange difficulty to produce them.

Hello everybody

This thread and another one, with the same subject, has delivered an 
overwhelming response in the past 24 hours, while I was off-line. After 
checking out everything I will get back to you in order to tell to which 
extend I manage to solve the key board problem. However it may be: I am 
simply grateful for the efforts of all of you to help me to find some 
way(s) out.
