Uninstalling Kubuntu 8.10

Although this is not an answer to your question, please note, that you 
definitely do NOT
need to uninstall Kubuntu 8.10.

sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-desktop

will install ubuntu studio into your existing 8.10 installation.
