Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Xubuntu won't work on my Dell

This was the problem I was having last month, I managed to get it working by
pushing the "auto" button on my monitor and it gave me a little bit of a
desktop, enough to be able to install the restricted drivers.
So It's gotta be your X configuration.
