More or less a last resort: You can rename the $HOME/.kde directory, then 
logout and login again. That will create a clean version for all your 
config files.

Or as an alternative you could create a new user and login as the new 
user. Then kwin shouldn't crash but if it does I would suppose there is a 
hardware problem.
