Derek,

In /etc/cron.daily/apt I have

UpdateInterval=0
DownloadUpgradeableInterval=0
eval $(apt-config shell UpdateInterval APT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists
DownloadUpgradeableInterval APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages)
AutocleanInterval=$DownloadUpgradeableInterval
eval $(apt-config shell AutocleanInterval APT::Periodic::AutocleanInterval)
UnattendedUpgradeInterval=0
eval $(apt-config shell UnattendedUpgradeInterval
APT::Periodic::Unattended-Upgrade)

in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/15adept-periodic-update I have:

APT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists "1";
APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages "1";
APT::Periodic::AutocleanInterval "0";
APT::Periodic::Unattended-Upgrade "1";

Looks OK to me so far?
