new dvd drive won't play dvds, but old one can

that as soon as I can get back on kubuntu, in about 15 minutes, and post
what happens. If i'm not mistaken that'll delete that file, and then when I
reboot kubuntu it'll be rewritten so that the new drive is recognized?

Yes I have three optical drives, two asus dvd burners, and one memorex
external cd burner.
