How to copy ~/.kde from old system to new?

Further to what Bruce Marshall wrote, you should use the same assignment 
between user name and UID / GID. I think, you could reuse the 
files "/etc/passwd", "/etc/shadow" and "/etc/group" from the old 
installation to keep the assignment.
