Can you see what you have in the file
$ cat /etc/network/interfaces
My system show something like (I use static addreses):
$ cat /etc/network/interfaces
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
address 127.0.0.1
netmask 255.0.0.0
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.44.150
netmask 255.255.255.0
auto eth1
iface eth1 inet static
address 10.0.40.249
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 10.0.40.1
auto eth2
iface eth2 inet dhcp
auto ath0
iface ath0 inet dhcp
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
If you do not whish to edit this file, you can also set your network
configuration using "system settings", in the kubuntu menu.
