Don't use kmail, but seams to me that if a message is top posted you
would notice when you first open it. If it starts with quoted text it's
either interleaved or bottom. if one or two pageful (probably the
"space-bar" else try the "page down") doesn't get to some "current reply text" 
I'd presume bottom post, and go straight to the bottom (with pine I just 
hit the end key)... then if a "page up" or two doesn't find anything 
interesting... delete will follow...

html is another mater. it's usually transparent to me cause pine renders
well formatted html as well formatted text. But if I were still using
mailx, it would likely make me froth at the mouth.
