Browser Issues

After trying to purge Ubuntu-desktop which failed with
errors removing several programs but was corrected via
aptitude gui and reinstalled, all my browsers freeze
up after playing an embedded video. When I close the
Yahoo video player, it sometimes freezes and doesn't
close but most ofter it closes and after clicking the
back buttor to go back to the myyahoo home page the
browser freezes, the pointer clock just spins and I
have to kill the browser and start all over. The
browsers all worked perfectly prior to the attempted
removal of ununtu-desktop.
To fix I've tried reinstalling, all browsers,
flashplayer-nonfree, flashplugin-nonfree,
mplayerplug-in. Flashplayer-nonfree and mplayerplug-in
both failed to reinstall with the same error message.
The output for mplayerplug-in is shown below(any clue
on how to fix):
lchata at ubuntu:~$ sudo aptitude reinstall
mplayerplug-in
