Mark, I'm a newbie in this forum but I've been around the internet a 
long time.  The answer to your dilemma is to quote only the pertinent 
parts of the prior post, rather than the entire thread, as I have done 
here. 

Top posting is not the answer.  All it does is irritate folks, though 
most are too polite to complain.  Why include everything preceding the 
current post?  All it does is take up bandwidth and helps nobody.
