I'm sure the ilve CD will let you start again. Try to save the stuff in 
your
home folder (settings and files) and then boot up the cd. If the gui tools
fail you, open a console and use fdisk from the command line.

Thank you Donn.  I got that far.  I completely forgot about fdisk, but 
thanks for the reminder.
This machine has two drives, I will have to format the second using that 
command.
