The problem is not SATA drives, per se, as I have an all-SATA system and fesity 
installs with aplomb...well, except for the X.org problem, but that is nothing
to do with the disk subsystem. That the machine has trouble with both
Linux and XP leads me to believe it could have a hardware or hardware
configuration problem of some sort.
