Dell Inspiron 6400 / 1505 Feisty install advice

Have just done a clean sweep and installed my Dell Inspiron 6400 (also 
model 1505 elsewhere) with Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty and just to tell those 
who might be considering DO  NOT TRY without having access to this wiki;

since X will not start after installation, that took me 3 reinstalls to 
figure out. In Dapper & Edgy X would start with vesa drivers and though 
not looking good would work until ATI drivers could be installed. No 
such luck in Feisty for unknown reasons.

But once all is installed and configured I really like Feisty, had good 
experience on some desktops no-brand as well.
