Right on.
My 8 year old daughter prefers Linux.
Of course, she´s kind of grown up with it.
She was playing GCompris on a fedora box at age 4.
But now, of course, she has been exposed to both Macs and Windows.
I have a dual boot machine with WinXP, and she, like me, rarely boots
windows
(only when she wants to play a game that doesn´t run on linux).

I installed K12Linux on machines in my classroom when I was teaching
middle school
(a few years back), and my 7 and 8 grade students got right on them and
did research,
created presentations, wrote papers, etc., without a problem.
