So after not getting many responses on this thread, off to the forums......I 
found this interesting link--Im sure the more experienced people have it 
memorized by heart (not this newb):

and received an education on the gpg's used in the apt-get update process.  
After following the instructions to reinstall the keys I still get an error 
on downloading the headers from the edgy-backports universe repository, but 
at least my Adept_Updater seems active again....it lulled for a few days.  So 
I will be off to the forums again.
