If this isn't the right forum for my query, please accept my apology, and
perhaps somebody could refer me to the correct list?

I need to move my PC into another room in order to use it with my university
studies. My PC has only a limited number of card slots - and they are all filled
- - so I thought I'd try to find a usb network adapter to use with Kubuntu Edgy
(currently running KDE 3.5.6) and my D-Link wireless router.

A friend of mine brought his WinXP laptop around and it worked fine with his
adapter, the TP-LINK TL-WN321G. Since the box said it was compatible with
Linux, I, too, went and bought one, and found that the set up instructions were
only for Windows and the website detailing the functionality only mentions that
it runs under Windows. There is a support email address (in China), but my
enquiries have met without response.

First of all, can anybody help me with setting up the usb adapter to work with
Kubuntu Edgy?

Secondly, can anyone suggest a suitable alternative wireless usb adapter to
work with Kubuntu? Alternatively, can you suggest any other way of getting
wireless connectivity without a wireless card?
