Problems with KDE 3.5.6 picwiz Image Resizing

I select an image in Konqueror, right-click and choose re-size.  In the dialog 
I choose a Custom size then enter my dimensions.  "Overwrite" is left 
unchecked.

"Next" is clicked.  The same filename is shown under "Processed Files" with 
an "(OK)" after it's name.  "Finish" is clicked.  A new file exists with the 
same name and "-640x480" appended.  The new file has the same dimensions as 
the original file and in all other respects is a copy of the original file.

A minor error is that the wrong size is appended to the filename.  The major 
problem is that the file is unchanged.

Is my system incorrectly configured?  An error this large could not have 
slipped past developers.

Any information or help is most appreciated.
