var log

anyone know how i can reduce the number of dot gz files in /var/log?

i have about 3 or 4 .gz files for each of the following: acpid, auth.log,
daemon.log, debug, dmesg, kdm.log, kern.log, mysql.log, syslog, user.log,
and Xorg.0.log
