Change locales in edgy

Hi - IANAE but I found locale to be based on environment variables like 
LANG, LANGUAGE and so on. I would look in .basrc and .bash-profiles in 
your home folder.

If I say:
LANG=af_ZA.UTF-8
then Linux speaks Afrikaans to me (well, in konsole)

Also check the kcontrol panel i18n settings. Sorry, am not Linux now so 
can't be more help.
