Stew, I got your reply fine - and I can see my posts in the kubuntu archive 
list.

I can switch to a yahoo address if that would make a difference. However, 
it seems that a significant number of posters are using gmail.  Do you all 
have this problem? I wonder if there is a setting in gmail that would fix 
it.

It's interesting that as soon as I sent the post, there was an 
acknowledgement from https://kubuntu-lists... in the status bar of kmail.

It's frustrating that one's own posts don't appear - I can live with being 
ignored if I know that at least I've been seen (although sometimes I wish 
I hadn't :) ).
