Ok now the easy part is done.....off I went to bookstore yesterday and
purchased manuals on (X)HTML, XML, PHP5, MySQL.....lots of reading to do. I
discovered over past week that the app I wanted to build in Open Office Base
was considerably more difficult to build than in (X)HTML and PHP5 due to lack
of "for dummies" documentation approach in Open Office Basic for Base (I
think for Calc it is a bit better and have an app in mind to build for this
later).
All I wanted to do was build a line that when a user clicked a button, another
form in Base would open. I wrapped my head around this for three days and
could not get an easy to implement example with a simple explanation. I
found examples of code built for opening other documents, both new and
already built, but not for opening another form internal to the same
document. While I do not wish to admit this, MS does have lots of easy-to-
follow documentation for using VBA with its Office. I guess sometimes they
do get it right. Perhaps it just shows the maturity of their VB effort over
Open Office's.
In the end I will better off for knowing the more advanced coding--me thinks
anyway. Later I will pick up books on Java and Javascript--Yes I know they
are different (I read those clauses yesterday in my XHTML book).
