mp3 support

ive looked at the user docs about it and it says to go to system -> admin ->
synaptic manager ...

firstly ive installed kubuntu 7.0.4
all it has installed is adept manager - and in there is no option for
gstream options or the like.

what am i missing ? what should i do to install the mp3 support . thanks
