I believe the courts would interpret a direct, plain, you need to install such 
and such patented codec message as being contributing.  Its a liability a 
single coder, or small loosely linked group of them cannot afford.  Its 
unfortunate that this leaves us playing 10,000 monkeys until someone in the 
know 'suggests' the correct answer.
