Kubuntu hoses Windows on HP Pavilion A810n

After installing 7.04 on this desktop in a dual boot configuration, 
Windows (XP Home) no longer boots.  There appears to be a small recovery 
partition on the disk.  I made /, swap and home paritions after 
shrinking the original NTFS partition.  Kubuntu works fine but Windows 
just won't boot.  I can see the windows xp logo for a fraction of a 
second, then a blank screen. I've installed many dual boot systems and 
never run into this problem before.  Any suggestions are appreciated.
