That wasn't a typo.  It implied $directory was a variable, and not to be typed 
directly.  I guess I could have used "find [directory] blah" instead, but 
then you probably would have typed the brackets, but if I hadn't done 
anything, you would have just typed "find directory" and gotten "directory 
not found."  There's no way to win this game.  :)
