mem sticks: how to force sync mounts?

Not really, but inconvienient any annoying. I'd have to run a console, look up
the dynamic device node udev assigned then umount.
I'd prefer an applet that indicates all hot pluggable devices are synced or
syncs on clicking it or so.
Hmm.
Is this simple enough to be a good coding project for someone who wrote a page
of Pascal "back then"? :)
