KDE desktop in KUBUNTU

I just downloaded the Kubuntu 7.04 Desktop version and ran it off a live 
CD, however I saw four desktop icons for four different (virtual 
)desktops. I tried to drag icons onto different desktop icon numbers, 
but none moved. Is this because the CD is live? Can each desktop have 
different icons? I have a  Pentium 4 1.3 Mh computer with 128MB of ram 
can Kubuntu  7.04 alternate CD  be installed and run properly?
