Strange sudden Windeco behavior - they are missing.

Try logging in to KDE, press Alt+F2 or K Menu -> Run command and type
in "kwin --replace". KWin, the KDE Window Manager, might have crashed and
didn't restart.
Btw, logging into GNOME to check wouldn't matter. GNOME and KDE use different
window managers, so they have nothing to do with each other.
