Please, just don't say stuff like this to add closure. It means ZERO. And has 
the added effect of making you look bad.

"Linux" doesn't need work because you didn't figure out how to backup 
something properly. That's like copying the shortcut icon for a program in 
Windows, dusting off your hands and saying "Yep, backed up *that* program".

Just say "Hey, I must have made a mistake in how I tried to fix something. Oh 
well, you live and learn."

And then learn.
