My ATI worked awful when I first installed Kubuntu 7.04. Nonetheless,
when I installed ALSA drivers, everything worked fine. I cannot tell
any difference in performance or quality. If you have not tried the
ALSA drivers, I encourage you to do so, before spending a lot of time
looking for drivers from your card maker. They are spending their time
trying to satisfy Microsoft to keep that big market. Maybe it would be
better, but my guess is that Alsa has solved most of the driver
problems, so just try it, you may like it.
